The idea of refrigeration came from William Cullen. His idea was not very practical then. Then Oliver Evans invented the first refrigerator, but it too was not practical. Then Jacob Perkins developed the first practical refrigerator. Then James Harrison created the first mechanical refrigerator. The process of liquifacation air for refrigeration was patented by Carl von Linde in 1903.
